My money would be on the Peacock gudgeons. They come from the same streams
in PNG and probably instinctively see them as food :-)
Seriously almost all gudgeons will nip fins although some individuals are
worse than others. It probably happens at night when the blue-eyes are
resting on the surface and the more nocturnal peacocks are wandering around
looking for a snack.
