I think that first one has to be in a position to be able to talk to the
government via some advisory board ect. It could be said that ANGFA is
represented on ACOLF by Rick Datodi and others from the aquarium trade in
a kinda way. Typically though, the government doesn't chase you up to
talk to them, you have to chase them. That hasn't really happened too
much within ANGFA

That would be like thinking all Americans were like Roy (or Australians
like me-hmmm, paradise......)

Actually, Canberra sits in a wasteland fishwise these days. The
Murrumbidgee river once had a wonderful assortment of fish, especially
further down around Narrandera. Pygmy perch, river blackfish, Mogurnda,
Ambassis, trout cod, Macquarie perch, bony bream and probably others
which are either extinct in the drainage or very limited in range today.

Sounds like you are referring to some of those Military American types
who spread them further around Australia during the second world war. :-)
