Boy this mail thing sure did get a lot of attn! Dont worry Gail, us folks in the
United States have a good bit of humor about us, well at least some of us ;-) I
bet you didnt know it would be international mail!! Good luck with you new tank
anyway!

Now back to fish... I posted a question on ANGFA having a voice in government
decisions or if they are even recogonized as an opinion when laws are made
concerning fish or does your government look to ANGFA as just a hobbiest group?

Here in the US the "professionals" are the ones who have made all the bad
decisions concerning our native fishes and now everything or damm near
everything is really messed up. When you talk to the "pro's" they take what you
say as a grain of salt so to speak. To me it seems that we the "hobbiests" know
an awful lot about the nature and behavior of the fish we specialize in and you
would think that they would listen. I reciently spoke with a biologist here that
is the specialist for the Colorado river and I was amazed how little he actually
knew about the lessor fishes in the river here where I live. He said it was a
rare thing to see a round tailed chub where I lived and when I told him about
the ones Peter U and myslf caught he said that it must have been a carp or
something.......Yes...OR SOMETHING! I said something what and he abruptly said
that he had a meeting to goto and terminated the conversation..... And this was
the man in charge!! I didnt bother to bring up the sculpins that are found here.
I think that would have been a waste of time.

Are things simular there or do they work harder to keep things the way they
should be? I hear of trout and Gambusia being in your waterways but I am a
little confused as to the extent of the problems with those and other introduced
exotics. How bad is it
down there in that respect? are the only clean waterways the remote ones?
