They are pretty rare in LFSs, but many RSG members seem to have them now. I
got mine from Phil Farrell, and there are a couple of folks in this area
breeding them now, so some of our LFSs have them occaisionally. They are
nice because they are very attractive and stay on the smaller side (similar
to a praecox). Your male doesn't seem to be fully-developed yet, as he has
not yet gotten the deep profile that they often acheive. Also, I don't know
if your friend's fish show this, but there are 2 male color morphs: one w/ a
blue tail and one w/ a reddish tail. My fish carry the genes for both, so I
have young males of both types.
They also are spawned easily, and do not tend to eat their fry, even in bare
tanks. Kind of a bonus, I guess. :-)
Don't know if they have these in Oz yet. My guess is not, at least not yet.
Adrian would have them on his site by now if they did! ;-)
Thanks again for sharing the pix!
