I was told that they are a real pain to breed. If they are anything like
gertrudae (small eggs, few laid per day) I might have to agree. They are
nice fish, I have been told that there are populations with one (varies
top or bottom) or two spots on the tail. The ones I have seen live have
had two spots. The color seemed a bit more subdued (might have been lost
after all of the generations after collection). The also seemed a bit
chunkier and less easily spooked than gertrudae

Perhaps this is the problem that the local breeder with these fish has had
problems, the well water that our tap water orginates from is about 7.6 pH
and 160-180 TDS. I am not sure if this guy is using RO water to cut down
the TDS. I know he did use peat .....ala killifish.

I need to look into the temperature affects on gertrudae also. I have
gotten more males than females, and over the summer the daily highs were
90+ °F and nightime lows were often 80 +°F. May have had simmilar affects,
seeing how these fish seem related. To bad they are not like furcata they
don't seem to have this problem with water....
