Since Julie
had gotten some of the thin breathable bags at the convention I was wondering
if your fish arrived in one of those bags? I really did quite nicely bringing
fish home that way. Instead of "wasting" a lot of space having to have the
usual 1/4 water and 3/4 air all of the bags were cut down to water only. I
then wrapped the bags with newspaper. That way the sides of the bags would
still have breathing spaces. I was then able to "smuggle" my fish in my
carry-on. Naturally the whole works was double bagged (with a large
breathable) to avoid any water problems. Twenty bags of fish, many containing
6 or more fit quite nicely in a medium size carry-on.
(but it was a really heavy bag!)
BS and the US airline companies.
On my trip out TWA asked what was in the very large stryo box (that was inside
a tough outer cardboard box). I told them aquarium supplies (which is true).
Then I came to find out that a great many of our members are having a very
difficult time shipping their fish to the show. Delta and Southwest airlines
were giving people major grief. Cary lost at least 2 years off of his life
with his airlines. Was that Northwest airlines Cary?
Rhonda, which airline caused you so much trouble?
Anyway the airlines have seemed to have bowed to the PITA pricks and are now
not allowing fish to be either stowed as cargo or as carry-ons. It was
mentioned by Ray Lucas at the meeting that this was something that we should
talk to PJAC about. (the trade part of the pet industry). If anyone has a URL
or an email address for them could they please post it? Hopefully if we can
start complaining they will use some of their clout to change the minds of
these airlines. I wonder what will happen when they decide to stop accepting
the boxes that we mail too.

good thing that it's you Chris. :-) I heard that there are some RML'ers that
haven't been paying for their fish once they arrive.
