Since we don't get paid for writing articles for our clubs it was my
understanding that the article is always the authors property. In fact even
magazine articles that you get paid for are still yours unless you do the
work for hire. I think that is the correct term. My husband being a musician
is somewhat up on copyright laws at least for music and that was the
information he believed to be correct when we discussed it a while back. For
instance I put articles I've written on my web page even if they were
published in club magazines or online elsewhere but I still give credit to
the first place it was published, though I do this out of professional
courtesy I don't believe I am required to by law since the material is mine
to begin with.
