Living in the sub-tropics you soon learn have to deal with cockroaches.
Before the influx of chemical sprays I'll always remember how my grandmother
used to catch cockroaches. She used to use old honey bottles and would
grease the inside top half of the jar and place some bait in the bottom. The
cockys then crawl into the jar but when they try to get out they cant
because of the greasy walls. She would place these bottles in every room at
night time and the next morning we would have dozen of cockys. You then
dispose of them in any way you feel. As kids we had a real mean streak -
You've all heard the joke about how cockroaches hear with their legs haven't
you? ;-)
Any sort of edible material can be used for the bait and any sort of oil
could be used to grease the inside. One of the spray-on cooking oil should
work well. In the old days we used to use dripping or lard.
