G'day Pete,
Someone else may have some decent data, but I think the key point, as I'm
sure you know, it is necessary to get across to prople who want to hold
any fish in tanks or ponds near the extremities of a fish's tolerances, is
the huge difference in habitat betwen a wild stream and an enclosed pond.
Some parts of a stream may get down to a temperature which we might take as
the fish's minimum tolerance level, but the fish can seek out areas of the
stream which are more friendly to it. Also, particularly jardini, the fish
can bask under a warm tropic sun during the day, swimming in the warmed
surface strata.
I don't have data, but think that holding a scleropages jardini in a pond at
an even 13degrees C throughout would be very stressful for the fish, and
would probably not be good for its long term life prospects.
