There are a number of Redigobius species and others that look similar
thus unless this person really knew their stuff I would question the id.
Irrespective of their id they would be just as good in aquariums I'll bet.

The best person for iding gobies is Doug Hoese at the Australian Museum
but he tends to be pretty busy and therefore turn around time may be slow.
