Unless your fish are accustomed to being in a bare tank they are likely too
stressed or uncomfortable to be able to spawn. In your display tank they all
feel right at home and are happy as Larry, but when you dump them in a bare
tank they may get a bit freaked out, and hence why they won't spawn. Try
adding something to the tank to make the feel more at home. ie plants, rocks,
substrate.
