Sunfish definitely do support the translocation of native species to create recreational fisheries. They got quite vocal several years ago when DPI was in the process of producing their translocation policy. They jumped to the conclusion that thought this would impact on the translocation of Golden and silver perch into south eastern drainages and result in a loss of oppurtunities to rec anglers.

As far as we know Sunfish as nothing to do with the translocation of exotic species. The translocation is rather the result of irresponsible hobbyists dumping unwanted fish in local waterways. Sunfish is an angler lobbying group and, until now would not promote the translocation of native or exotic species in or within Australia,
The use of tilapia as live bait by some unscrupulous anglers might be also a possible scenario responsible for the introduction of tilapia in some waterways, but Sunfish is not approving those practices, despite its extreme positions "in the name of recreational anglers rights at any price".
Note: I do not belong to Sunfish, I am an angler and an aquarium hobbyist.

Aren't Sunfish responsible for translocations of non-endemic species as well?
