No expert but here goes:
As long as you will not be pulling mops from the 55gal the mix of
Melanotaenia will be fine and should show off well. However, do not
mix them with the smaller blue eyes. They (the blueeyes) will not
be able to compete in the tank with the big boys for food. Keep
them seperate with a little salt in the water.
The preacox are a difficult matter. I don't know if they would be able
to survive with the big boys. Try it for a while and see how they do.
The bigger thank would be better but what out for new tank
syndrome, especialy with the preacox.
