Subject: The burbot in the USA and Canada

Dear Mr. Huntley,

Presently I am working on a documentation report on the endangered
fish species of The Netherlands. One of the most endangered species
here is the burbot (Lota lota). This species disappeared slowly,
without any publicity (as in the case of salmonids, sturgeon, shads).

An internet search learned me that in any case in Minnesota, lake
Ontario and Massachusetts the burbot appeared on lists of rare or
endangered species.

My question: do you know were I can find more general information
about the status of the burbot in Northern America. Or, at least can
you tell me how you personnelly (as director of the ACN) judge the
status of the burbot in northern America?

I should like to get a note of you, maybe you can give me addresses
of people who are beter informed than you.

Much thanks in advance

Friendly greeting

dr. Henrik de Nie
