Roy, most of the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos you have there are Lesser
Sulphur Cresteds (can't remember the subspecies) from some islands to
the north of Australia (Sunda Islands in Indonesia sound familiar to
anyone? I forget) - the Greater Sulphur Crested (Cacatua galerita
galerita) of the Australian bush is a bit rarer in the shops in the
USA AFAIK. Or so it was a few years back when I was interested in
keeping track of such things.

There are some interesting parallels in the keeping of exotic fishes
in Australia and exotic birds, both groups of hobbyists have been a
little naughty, and both are getting hammered for it now. Both have
the same excellent motives, i.e. to save some nice looking critters
from going the way of the dodo.

I think a better way to succeed is lie to them. Put a goldei and a Pascoe
tri in the same tank... I would be amazed if they knew the difference.

Funny, Pot is illegal and has prison for a punishment but people still smoke
the stuff. Making the stuff illegal didn't change things except the price.
Hell it is probably easier to get than wild fish from PNG!!! People have
always loved having things they were not allowed to and making them illegal
just opens up the black market trade of things. Sulfur crested cockatoo's
for $1500 here in the states. I doubt they were exported from OZ
legally......
