SERIOUS lighting! I'm sure some other more experienced list members can comment further on that aspect of your set-up.

I've always found rainbows and blue-eyes to be very adaptable. Your water is very different than mine but I'm sure you can find some species that will like the water you have. Why mess with the chemistry if you don't have to? There must be some local guys

who can advise you on what species do well in the water you have out of the tap.

Sorry to be so vague but I think someone a little closer than some guy in Canada can really offer better advice.:-)
