Sorry if Ive entered too late into this discussion and if it is somewhat off
track: A few people in SA keep a small amount of limestone in their
aquariums to provide calcium (I presume) in the tank water. I suppose this
comes from the idea that most of the water ways (eg. River Murray) are cut
through limestone. As there is this constant contact with limestone wouldnt
this mean that calcium levels, through dissolved limestone, be permanently
at saturation point? Therefore by utilising a piece of limestone in your
tank provide for simular calcium levels in an aquarium environment? I
personally dont subscribe to this thought, not because I doubt it but rather
have not needed to measure calcium levels, ie have had satisfactory success
without mesuring and adjusting calcium levels.
Just a thought.
