In The Dawn of the Third Age "Tim R. Ayers" <ayers at ibex-usa.com> woke
me from my contemplation by writing:

Hello Tim
Nice to see another frozen Minnesotan on the list. Are you enjoying
our (hopefully) last blast of winter? :-)
Gerald Allen's book "Rainbowfishes In Nature and in the Aquarium"
would be your best place to start. Although he doesn't go into
locations much, he does cover all your other requests. This is also
the most up to date book, which is very important when dealing with
these fish. If you're looking for rainbows, stay away from the stores.
Unless you know what you're looking for the odds are rather high
you'll get a cross. If you'ld like to see many more species than
you'll ever see in the stores (and pure besides) then you're welcome
to come over to the other side of town and visit my fish room. Also
the local aquarium society also has a couple of the books available
for checking out by members.
