If you use a shotgun, you'll get the buggers every time!
I use a 12 guage with No. 4 shot for surface feeders, and OO for gudgeons...
I've had to unfortunately resort to Brennake slugs for the Grunters,
they've got this nasty habit of hiding behind submerged stumps, but if
you blow the stump out of the water, you blow the fish out of the water...
The bottom line? Use enough gun, and allow for the deflection of light
distorting the true position of the fish.... I think it's about 15
degrees from memory! But stand your ground, and remember, they can smell
fear...
