It's OK to say Hell here, Dianne, we know we're not going there because we
don't believe in it! ;)
Slimey Wood Syndrome (SWS) can be caused by incorrectly dried/cured wood...
not that I'd know Molapani wood if it bit me on thr butt... but my guess is
that soaking it for a bit longer (a month or two?) may be in order.

You can bleach the wood, I guess, or treat it with Potassium permangenate if
you feel the need, but my guess is that natural long-term soaking would be
the best, if not the quickest solution.

Why did you want do do the water change? Are the fish suffering? I'd be
content with a 25% change and careful observation over the nest week or teo.
