With regard to your question on Blackmasts, these fish were until recently
called Quiricthys stramineus, they have subsequently been reclassified as
Craterocephalus stramineus - a change that places them in the "hardyhead"
family.
These fish are found in isolated "pockets" in the Upper Gregory system of
Queensland, the Victoria, Daly, Katherine and Finnis Rivers of the Northern
Territory and the Ord River system of Western Australia. The water
parameters of these systems tend to be hard and alkaline - typically 7.5 -
8 pH and upto 1800ppm hardness. Temperature ranges from mid to high 20's
(Celsius)
