Rhonda,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Our airlines in Australia have very stringent requirements when packing and
freighting live fish. Whe are required to double bag them and then they
must be placed in a waterproof polystyrene box which is then supposed to
have a cardboard sleave around it. Then sometimes when you do all that you
get some obnoxious little booking clerk that still wont allow you to freight
the fish. In these cases weve learned to request to see the supervisor to
explain that the fish have been packed according to the companies policy and
normally they are forwarded. But of course it always happens when you are
late for your flight anyway.

This has caused problems when we go fish collecting in distant places or as
in your case shipping fish to conventions. Adrian Tappin printed our
airline requirements in an issue of the Bulletin last year, maybe they may
assist you in future plannings if the US airlines have similiar
requirements. But I guess you were pretty peeved at the time. Shame you
missed Bruce and Neil, they were interested in meeting as many RMLers as
they could - even if Neil hasn't got a computer :-)

Regards,
Baz.
