I also have both books.
The Atlas is great but will prove fatal when it comes to lusting
after the various African (and Asian) fish. Bear in mind that there
have been many collections of new species and colour forms since the book
was published. It is a basic reference book for killie people though,
IMHO.
Costas book is full of pictures and collection info for the various
Cynolebias species but has very little info on actual maintenance
in the aquarium. It's much more recent and so hasn't gained complete
'must have' status in the killie hobby but I suspct it will, in time.
> Also try Steffen Hellner's book "Killifish A Complete Owners Manual"
A wonderful 'entry level' book but you knew that already, huh, Mark.

I'd be happy to recoomend Jim too. He's been very helpful to us in the past
and I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was in California earlier
this year. So far, all my dealings with him and the 'Aquatic Bookshop'
have been positive.
Those of you who have access to TFH magazine should check out the
May 1996 issue for an article Jim wrote about his experiences in
Brazil on the Xingu River.
Later,
Andrew.
