<<hat I am looking for is a stock and forget fish that
will do its own thing this spring (7 months from now :-) ) in this pond.
There
will be a fair amount of alge and organics from the plants that will fall
into
the pond as it is under the plant shelves. The heat from the water keeps
the
plants alive in winter so this is the primary reason for the pond. I do
want a
Australian native for this pond by the way.
How about the empire gudgeon??>>
Hey Roy,
Probably almost any of the gudgeans from the southern half of the continent
of Australia would do well in there including Empires, Firetails ,
Mogurndas etc
Especially with some plants and other cover - although I have seen Empires
in huge schools in areas where there is little or no cover they still like
some cover if they can get it.
How hot will that pond of yours get in summer and for how long? That may be
a determinant for some species of cold preferring fish.
