Sorry Adrian,
you're wrong. Never thaw the food before feeding. I had the chance to
listen to some lectures on a symposium on feeding fish and what I learned
was very interesting. No fish ever has died on feeding frozen food. However,
from the moment food starts to defrost it begins to rot. The liquid which
can be seen in defrosted food will be rotten within minutes and waste the
aquarium water. Thus frozen food should be smashed into small pieces
(maybe use a hammer but before that put the food into a towel) but be
careful that it's still frozen while you feed. Only this way you keep the
quality (and don't forget to use as low temperature as possible if you
prepare you frozen food by yourself, if you have a deep freezer you
should use the shock freezer).
