Andrew suggested: G. Maculatus, G Olidus to name a few.

how are they to breed? What I am looking for is a stock and forget fish that
will do its own thing this spring (7 months from now :-) ) in this pond. There
will be a fair amount of alge and organics from the plants that will fall into
the pond as it is under the plant shelves. The heat from the water keeps the
plants alive in winter so this is the primary reason for the pond. I do want a
Australian native for this pond by the way.
How about the empire gudgeon?? would this be a big enough setting where the
little critters that would be growing in the water supply the fry with what they
need to survive?? I would love the galaxids but that is a group of fish I know
nothing about.

Speak up Unmack, we have talked about this before!!

Lets have a vote by list members on what would do the best in this situation and
what I would need to add to the water. Bear in mind that anything hard water
sensitive would not do well as I am sure I can get the PH to drop with the
organics but I cant fill the thing with ro water and our water out of the ground
is 500 ppm with a PH of 8.3 this time of year.

Dr. Bruce??? Any thoughts?? ( that was a dumb question :-) :-) )
