On both the pieruccieae and the kamakas lots of water changes would be
recommended. Many of the fish that we obtained from Europe had ulcers and
quickly died within 2 months (I believe they were TB ulcers). Lots of water
changes,(50%/week) higher pH's (maybe harder water) and not so stressful
temperatures (less than 78 F) seem to be doing the trick here in the States for
avoiding the TB. If your fish already have the symptoms then maybe even double
water changes would be helpful and keep the temps down. Don't forget to feed
them well too so that you can get lots of eggs to produce your next
generations. My fry, saved from the fish are now just starting to produce
eggs. It's a very neat little fish.
