You just stick them in around 50:50 water and cider vinegar and forget
them for a few weeks and you will have heaps. You don't really need to
feed them. If you add a small amount of sugar you're culture will get
going quicker and probably get a higher yeild but you're culture won't
last as long in my experience. Some folks add apples too but I never
found apples made much difference.

I take it then that you already know how
to harvest them? That's what usually beats most people to death! I have
to laugh everytime I hear about someone pouring their culture through
coffee filters or something! You just hang something in the culture such
as stockings, or a soapless scourer pad from a stick or something. Pull
it out, let it drain and swash it around in a cup of water and Bobs
you're Uncle!
