I understand that the fish in some locations
are genetically different. Some were translocated by
Glover many years ago.
As for spawning, I didn't have a tank to keep them in
so used an old polystryene broccoli box until I could
re-locate them to better quarters. There were about
30 specimen in the box of assorted sizes. Within 3 days,
2 co-dominant males were caring for clutches of eggs.
I would say, keep them fed, provide sufficient hiding and
spawning sites and allow nature to take its course.
