I'm still thinking about making my aquarium a PNG biotope. Not
immediately, but in the long run. So first, the ground covering, then
gradually replace all the plants with indigenous PNG plants and then
finally only PNG fish.
At first, I wanted to do a river specific biotope (where the
Tateurndina occelicauda lives), but that would limit the plant
selection just a bit too much. But when looking at the entire PNG
plantlife, there's plenty of choice. Anyway, those are worries for
later. First, I have to start with the bottom... And I'm going to do
that this saturday, since I'll be moving my aquarium to my new
appartment and I'll have to clean it out completely anyway.
So here goes my question: what kind of ground covering is common in
PNG rivers? I was thinking about a sand substrate with a few small
rocks.
Basically a combination of:

Would this be a correct assessment, or am I completely wrong? :)
Are there woodroots in the PNG rivers? (Like in the Amazon river in
South America)
Thx for the info
