Betreff: [RML] Production and Raising of Live foods
I've been watching both list about the on going tread of raising live
foods. There a Great book that I would recommend to anyone that really
wants to produce and raise most live foods, except crickets and feeder fish.
It is called "Plankton Culture Manual" by Frank H Hoff & Terry W. Snell
ISBN 0-9662960-0-1 Published by Florida Aqua Farms, Inc.
The chapter titles are 1. Aquatic Food Webs, 2. Utilization of Plankton,
3. Microalgae Identification, 4. Microalgae Culture, 5. Rotifer Culture, 6.
Ciliate Culture, 7. Artiemia Culture, 8. Copepod Culture, 9. Daphnia
Culture, 10. Clam and Oyster Veligers, 11 Amphipod Culture, 12 Mysid
Culture, 13. Micro Worm Culture, 14. Literature Cited (10 pages), 15.
Conversion Tables. The total pages is 160.
This book is one of the easiest and cheapest books I have had in the
aquaculture course that I am taking. The author Frank H Hoff pioneered the
use of closed, recirculating, artificial seawater systems to raise clownfish
many years ago. This book is an outgrowth from that research and the need
to feed them cheaply. I just did a fast search on the internet and the price
runs $29. dollars for the book, I didn't check the discount houses for a
price. JiM C.
