Yes, the more plants you have the less fish you can take - if you don't give
them enough light as the plants also need oxygen - at least during nights.
You can't generally say how many fish, 30 guppies are normally no problem
but ten large barbs or characoids may be.

it depends on the species and tank position also the planting will make a
difference..
