The fishes in question were treated one moth ago with no sign of
reoccurrence as of yet. I was surprised at how well and quickly they
responded to treatment, i was prepared to treat them to months.
These fish were treated for 15 days with nothing else but Micobutin
at the dose indicated.
I would be very interested if others can reproduce these results.
Needles to say there is nothing spacial about this dosing and i am
sure that a better dosing and schedule is possible.
As I am also a bit apprehensive about TB "cures" I have waited one month to
verify that no relapse has occurred before posting this to the list.
Because i think that TB is profoundly endemic to Rainbows,
I think that TB has not been completely eradicated from these fish,
rather TB is just again dormant as opposed to active.
One minor drawback of this treatment is that the aquarium water turns red violet.
On the other hand it is interesting that Micobutin does not seem to harm
plants at all.
Adrian has posted a good summary of TB treatments.
I have given some consideration to almost all the drugs he mentions.
The final choice for Micobutin was based on the reported sensitivity to M. piscine
and beginners luck and/or some form of intuition after reading about these drugs.
In any event I am very happy to have "Sirtis", a named pet fish,
back to his usual gregarious self.

Ed Romana
