The wonderful thing about the aquarium hobby is that not everything that
happens has a easy answer.
I don't know what the fish do but I do know the sponge prefilter ends up
with eggs on it.
Bruce will know the particular tank I'm referring to - its 6 feet long by 2
feet wide and 15 inches high. I'll let you do the metric conversions Harro.
Anyway the tank did contain about 100 Goyder River Trifasciatas. The tank is
bare except for a light covering of gravel on the bottom. The tank was being
used just to grow the fish on. No plants, no spawning mops, no nothing!
except a trickle filter that has an overflow at one end of the tank. So I
guess they just spawn in midwater? and I don't know if the eggs were fertile
or not as I never tried to hatch them.
I remember one time there must have been at least 100-200 (or more) eggs as
the sponge prefilter was completely covered.
Adrian.
