I just did a test run on Vol 9 No 3 Oct 1995:

Scanning and OCR of all text : 11 mins
Correction of text: 30 mins
Scanning of colour photos: 5 minutes
Reworking (cut/paste) photos: 45 mins
Load all into Microsoft Word 8: 5 mins (Yes.... Ofice 97...eat your hearts out!)
Reformat text/pictures: 30 minutes
Convert to HTML (raw): 1 minute (Word 8 has a Save As HTML command)

Total: 2hrs 7 minutes

Add about another 30+ minutes to put in hot links to the index and key words, etc, and I reckon on about 3 hours per issue - say 4 hours to be sure. With two or three people working to the same "style sheet" we could have the lot done in a couple of month

s if we do one issue per week.

Add the A-Z's and perhaps the Bulletins ( can we produced a HTML version each month as well?) and I reckon it could go on sale in the middle of next year.

Of course if we needed to fill up space on the CD, we could try and get the RSG book into it as well....

Prolly not ! Or else he would have done this. Then again he may not have
the equipment and thought he could type it faster than *some* promise to do
things <g>

Cheers
