Actually I have found hardyheads to be really useful for keeping
tanks tidy. They eat filamentous algae, small snails and the shit
from other fish, plus they look pretty good when they school. I guess
they would be pretty dull if you like your fish gaudy but then you
would all probably just keep Koi if that was what you wanted.

I keep a small school of Marjories Hardyheads in each of my larger
tanks, and while they don't scrub the tank clean of algae, they will
clean up just about everything else!
