Now that I've completed my conversion to privately bred rainbows (a move
that was definitely worth the effort), I want to obtain some nice
Australian fishes that will keep my tank bottoms clean. I have always
used Corys and think they are very effective and peaceful fishes (and my
wife thinks they're "so cute").
I would like to stock 2, 75s and 3, 30s. I would like to use a variety
of species (if possible) that are (like the Corys) peaceful and
effective and that look good. My tap water here in Las Cruces runs
about ~400 - 500 ppm TH and 7.5 - 8.0 pH. I temper this with RO to
about 150 - 200 ppm. I run peat in three tanks (1, 75...2, 30s), and
change about 1/4 - 1/3 of the water every week. All the tanks are live
planted. The only other fish species in these tanks are otocinclus and
my newly obtained SAEs (thanks to everyone for helping me to get that
one straight!). I have a roving band of ghost shrimp in 1 tank as well
(lucky for them no big rainbows).
Any suggestions regarding fish selection are welcome :-)
