The gentleman who wrote that article is Dr Harvey Hammer, a hobbyist that
just happens to be an MD. I spoke with him about this treatment, and he does
feel that it was very helpfull, but you are right Cary, there was no testing
done and it was just an empirical observation on his part. There have been
several articles in the rainbowfish publications that mention tuberculosis
and aerobacter both as being potential causes of ulcer disease. Ceftin,by
the way is a prescription antibiotic and it is expensive as hell. When I
called up a pharmacy about it, I think it would have cost about 40 bucks to
treat a tank of fish with it according to Dr. Hammers protocol. If anyone is
interested I can check on the price for sure again, it may not be quite that
bad, but I remember thinking that I probably would not be trying it.
