Some messages posted to this list ask about colour varieties and habitat
locations on some of the Australian Rainbowfish. This can be a problem with
respect to trifasciata for example as the family is so variable throughout
its range.
I have been working on a little project for a short while that is coming
along nicely. This is a web site in which I wan't to list all the known
colour varieties of trifasciata with some pertinent information on each
location. This site is not yet finished but I would like to make a special
preview available to the members of this list.
At this stage most of the colour varieties are represented with a photo and
a location chart. Some of the text is filled in. Be warned that each of the
image files are large (approx 80k). My two priorities when I return from
holidays in a fortnight will be to finish the text for all tribes and then
to work on reducing the image file sizes. I feel confident that I should be
able to reduce these to about 25k. I want to also replace some of the
images with better shots of some of the fish. Some of the shots are of
immature fish and others I have found better examples of.
Each of the photos on this site are copyright of the identified
photographer who has allowed ANGFA to use these shots for educational
purposes so please don't go pinching them for your own web sites, but by
all means include a link back to these pages.
These pictures are designed as a supplement to the ANGFA posters and if you
want to see the true beauty of these fishes then the ANGFA poster sets are
still for available for sale. Please tell your friends and shopkeepers
about them as they are truly magnificent. They can be ordered from the
ANGFA of NA domain site.
The new site can be viewed at http://www.ozemail.com.au/~fisher/new/tri.htm
I would be interested in feedback from you and anybody with collecting
experiences of any of these tribes please fill me in. Bruce and I think a
sister site with the splendida and inornata tribes would complement this
site nicely. Please enjoy and I will see your comments when I get home in a
couple of weeks.
Regards,
Baz.
