>A word of warning with micro worms. Micro worms will destroy/eat 'bow eggs.
>I feed micro worms but only when I have no viable eggs left to hatch.
I would like to follow this statement a little further! I have been in this
hobby for a long time and have never heard or read anywhere about microworms
eating fish eggs?
Has anyone else ever had this experience or know of any?
I feed microworms (as well as other foods) to all my rainbowfish fry and
often to breeding groups of Blue-eyes and Werneri and never had a problem. I
have use them in fry rasing tanks and containers where some eggs are still
being hatched etc.etc.
Planaria (Egg sucking gutter trash) are a real problem and can decimate an
entire batch of eggs in hours but I've never had problems with any other
types of worms eating eggs?. I have had some other types of free-swimming
worms in some of my tanks from time to time and don't know what they are,
but they don't seem bother anything either.
Planaria are easily identified - they look and act like miniature leeches. I
have got rid of them using a product from Holland called "Dactycid". It can
be used as a fish wormer as well. Also kills hydra an "slakken" (snails, I
think). I guess while the product is active it will kill worms fed to fishes
for food as well.
