Bruce - I cant give you a real reason for why I like aquaria. I have spent
my entire life associating with the water, Fishing and Diving. I suppose
getting an aquarium just seemed a natural progression, part of my
evolutionary role. I keep natives for many reasons, patrionism, not many
people keep them and most of all to develop an understanding of a part of
Australias unique and often forgotten fauna. It pleases me to see the
expressions on peoples faces when I point out M Fluviatilis and remark that
it comes from the Murray. People are amazed that such great fish live right
under their noses.
Apart from the fish I like the look of a planted aquarium. Nothing is more
stunning to look at than a well planted tank, I find them fascinating. Mind
you other peoples tanks often look better, but then thats what they say
about theirs compared to mine. I find plants are a little more interactive
and you can actually become involved in the aquascaping. Very rewarding.
Once again, gardening is something Ive always enjoyed and this is just an
extension of that past-time. Mind you I get sick of cutting all the plants
back every week.
Sorry to dribble
Andrew
