I have kept Maculatus and Olidus in an outside pond quite succesfully
(Untill the Callop *Yellow Belly for you Easteners* ate them). The pond is
above ground and gets very cold during winter, probably around the 5 degs
mark. The Galaxids appear to go into a state of hibernation and remain
almost stagnant on the bottom of the pond. I would say that Big headed
Gudgeons and the like would also fair well under these conditions.
