Recently snapped up Gunther Schmida's little guide marketed in the US by
Barron's Press, like so many in that series originally I have come to
appreciate that series as inexpensive and surprisingly complete intros to a
number of fish specialties. (I tend to keep a copy of Hellner's book on
killies hand to give to newbies, I'll probably do the same with the rainbow
book and Harro's livebearer book if it ever turns up. Many American
aquarists are amazingly unread and many shops amazingly devoid of useful
literature.)
While still struggling to learn the common names given to so many rainbows
after listening to you guys (and Allen) use the scientific nams and
localities, I have found some great nuggets of advice and fascinating
insights therein. Also noticed is how many correspondants from this list are
in the credits and thank-yous.
Not that it is a biggie, but is Guenther Schmida German or currently
residing in Oz? I am in awe of his photos and jealous of his access to so
many wonderful rainbows.
Thanks,
Scott
