Gary

I have seen rainbowfish in the Coen River for example in the dry season when
they are resttricted to non-flowing waters with ulcers and fin fungus but
feel that it was not TB mainly because I have been led to believe that it is
due to high parasite load with secondary infections. In more tropical areas
they have epidemics of "Red Spot Disease" or Epizootic Ulcer Disease which
is possibly Viral with secondary bacterial and fungal comp[lications but I
have never seen confirmed TB disease from the wild in fish.

One of my theories is that it doesn't exist as a pathogen in the wild and
that is why our rainbowfish have so little resistance to it - lack of
exposure.

Bruce.
