This past fall and winter I was having problems getting these buggers to
produce eggs. when they did produce the eggs seemed underdeveloped or
unviable a wholesaler wanted them and I tried everything to gear up
production. nothing worked. Lately, I have noticed them spawning at night
(9:00 pm) (with a light on) direcly under the light and relatively near the
waters surface. I suspect that they are being affected by these induced
long days. I will continue to observe and see if this remains constant and
if the eggs are viable. I may have too many in the group and egg eating my
be a problem also. I just don't want to work with a single pair and do
"line breeding"...
