Despite earlier concerns, I know they're eating now because they're pooping:-)
I'm feeding them Tetra Min baby food "E" for egglayers and egg yolk. I've
tried other things that have been suggested but they really love the Tetra
Min and it stays right on the surface. I thought I might start the shrimp
brine today.
The stocking on the power filter seems to still be working well, I've been
watching closely and while there is a tiny current, they aren't having to
swim against it at all. The food stays on the surface for about an hour
before it's carried off by the current.
We're getting a snail today for the tank.
I have a question about my community tank (not the fry tank) What would
you suggest as the best algae eater type fish? I have very little algae and
plastic plants so far (I'm not quite ready for tackling the planted tank -
except for java moss). I've heard clown and bristlenose plecos (as they
stay smaller) and/or siamese algae eaters. Any other suggestions?
I hope you all don't mind my email "diary" as a first time fishkeeper and
now "breeder" (I don't want to call myself that as the fry haven't made it
yet!). If my emails are boring ya'll please let me know! :-)
I do have some interesting news, the fellow that sold me the neon pair
wants to buy my babies if they make it :-)
"Tanks" for all your help,
Julie
