Usually I am refereed to as Rooster. I dont have the foggiest idea as to
why. I live in the Aspen area of Colorado. I have been keeping rainbowfish
professionally for 6 years. I am one of the few people that supply
rainbowfish to most of the members of the two clubs. Cary H. And Chris D.
are also major suppliers of fish to members. Other than them there are not
a lot of people doing it which is in some part a shame because it is hard
to try and keep up with it, and hard to find the space to properly maintain
and breed fish that are truly scarce here in the US.
At this point I am responsible for about 50 different species and
populations of rainbowfish here in the US. It is truly a labor of love for
me as the costs are very high to try and maintain a large amount of fish
and I am lucky to break even selling what fish I do sell. I have been
hoping to take a break from the breeding bit but until more people start
breeding and distributing fish I feel this is what I should do.
Scott Buckel and myself started ANGFA of North America last year to try and
make more materials available to the rainbowfish keeping public here in the
US and help the granddaddy of fish clubs, ANGFA grow so that they may
continue providing the best rainbowfish info available anywhere. Now with
ANGFA NA and the RSG people have two of the best organizations providing
the most up to date info on Sahul fishes available in the United States.
Work wise I am a slave to the rich on Planet Aspen building homes,
remodeling, room additions and custom millwork. When I am not slaving over
the homepage or doing water changes or making my living I do try to get
some ski days in. I would probably have more days in this year but one of
the silent list members BRIAN LANG is too busy cutting the nuts off dogs
and kitties to go and play... He is also the resident ANGFA vet that writes
the fish disease section of the ANGFA NA bulletin.
I was born some time in the early 60's (the day escapes me) and was one of
the youngest members to attend woodstock with my flower child mother and
peace sign pop. I feel life is too short not to have a good time and if it
is worth doing its worth doing to the fullest extent (those that know me
personally will agree).
Now that I have mentioned the people who do sell fish and told the new
people where the lists are nobody should not have any excuse that they cant
find different rainbowfish. Most of you will need to call Cary and ask him
what he has to offer because his list is not on line YET and some day when
he quits procrastinating you will be able to see his list with mine and
Chris's on the ANGFA NA homepage. If there are anyone else breeding fish
that are members of ANGFA I wish you guys would send in your lists and make
yourselves known!! I will post lists for you folks in OZ too as I know we
do get hits from down under as well. Just dont send me a list containing
fish that you are not supposed to have in your fishrooms please! I dont
think it is illegal for you to offer tank raised or Doley fish to the
public....
