Bolbitis is a bit of a funny plant. It takes a long time to
become accustomed to a new environment - even if you simply change its location
in the same tank. Then, suddenly, it grows like gangbusters.
It does love waterflow, though, and prefers the outflow of a filter over
still water. CO2 and light also helps.
The algae problem - well, check your phosphates and nitrates.
Plant types aim for zero phosphates (watch those phosphate based pH buffers) and
10 ppm nitrates.

It is astaxanthin. It can be purchased from www.brineshrimpdirect.com, either by
itself or they premix it into some of their foods (like plankton gold flake).
