The Gibb River Road shouldn't be a problem in your 2wd - when you turn onto
it off the Wyndham Road there is one of those Christmas tree signs that is
"loaded with goodies". You know the ones - 15 different messages depending
what is your ultimate destination and they give you a general idea how the
road is at the time e.g. 4WD only past so and so, no caravans etc
We only used 4WD crossing the King Edward River and on a couple of "hairy"
bits of the Mitchell Plateau track
Perhaps Dave Wilson could tell you the current state of the amateur
collecting regulations up there. I don't know of anyone who has kept any of
the Kimberley gudgeons or any natural populations of M. gracilis outside WA.
We did find a population of M. exquisita in WA on the way over in Bindoola
Creek near Bluey O'Malley's crossing

Bruce.
