Caught my first Monkfish off the Cornish coast, many many years ago, and
at 2 o'clock in the morning when I saw what was highlighted by my torch
I was going to cut it free, until one of my friends told me what it was.

In the UK, this is sometimes sold as mock-scampi, as the flesh as a
shrimp-like taste. Actually a TV chef mentioned this on the box, some
years ago and the fishmonger's price rocketed. But I have never tried
Monkfish liver.

Apparently the common name Monkfish can be applied to at least 2
very
different fishes

I wonder if shark's liver would be more likely to be saved
separately for
eating purposes?
